These terms are the agreement between you and StockVane (“StockVane”, “we”, “us”) for your use of www.stockvane.com and any paid membership. By using the site or buying a membership you accept these terms. They are written to apply to visitors and members in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the EEA, and Australia. 1. What StockVane is — and isn’t
StockVane is an information and reference website about publicly listed companies. It is not a broker-dealer, investment adviser, or fiduciary; it does not execute trades or hold client money; and nothing on it is personalised investment, financial, tax, or legal advice or a recommendation to buy or sell any security. Our Disclaimer and Editorial Standards form part of these terms.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to hold a StockVane account or buy a membership.
3. Acceptable use
You may use StockVane for your own personal, non-commercial research. You agree not to: scrape, crawl, bulk-download, or systematically copy the site’s data or content; resell, redistribute, or republish it; share your account login with others; attempt to disrupt the site or access it by unauthorised means; or use the site unlawfully. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules or abuses the service.
4. Accounts
You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you think your account has been compromised. Free accounts may carry usage limits (for example, a number of pages per day); we may change those limits.
5. Membership, billing and renewal
- Billing. Paid membership is billed in advance for the plan and interval you select at checkout (for example monthly or annually). Prices are shown before you pay. Payment is handled by our payment providers (Stripe and/or PayPal); we do not store your card details.
- Automatic renewal. Unless stated otherwise at checkout, your membership renews automatically at the end of each interval at the then-current price for that plan, until you cancel. We will tell you before an annual plan renews.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from your account or by emailing us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the interval you have already paid for; there is no cancellation fee, and you keep access until then.
- Price changes. If we change the price of a plan, the new price applies from your next renewal, and we will give you notice with enough time to cancel first.
6. Refunds and your cancellation rights
We offer a voluntary 14-day refund: if you are not satisfied, email [email protected] within 14 days of any charge and we will refund it in full. After 14 days, payments are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.
If you are a consumer in the UK or the EEA, you normally have a statutory 14-day right to withdraw from a digital-services purchase. By starting to use a paid membership immediately, you ask us to begin the service during that period and you acknowledge that you lose the statutory withdrawal right once the service has been fully provided — but our voluntary 14-day refund above still applies, and none of this affects your other mandatory statutory rights.
7. Intellectual property
The StockVane name, the site design, the written articles, and the figures we calculate ourselves (including the “Quant”-labelled reads) belong to StockVane or its contributors. Underlying market data belongs to its providers. You may quote short excerpts with clear attribution and a link back; you may not republish whole articles or datasets, or use our content to train machine-learning models, without written permission.
8. Changes to the service
StockVane is offered on an ongoing basis but we may add, change, or remove features, coverage, or content, and we may suspend the service for maintenance. If we discontinue a paid feature that was central to your membership, you can cancel for a pro-rata refund of the unused period.
9. No warranty
The site and everything on it is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that data is accurate, complete, current, or uninterrupted. See the Data & Methodology page for how the figures are sourced and calculated.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, StockVane and its operators are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any investment losses, arising from your use of or reliance on the site. Where our liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 100. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under laws that cannot be excluded — including the Australian Consumer Law, UK and EEA consumer legislation, and Canadian provincial consumer-protection law. Where our liability for a failure to provide a service can be limited but not excluded, it is limited to re-supplying the service or paying the cost of having it re-supplied.
11. Third-party links
The site links to third-party sites and services, some of them affiliate links (disclosed in our Editorial Standards). We are not responsible for third-party sites or their content.
12. Disputes and governing law
If you have a problem, please email [email protected] first — most issues are resolved quickly that way.
If you are a consumer, these terms and any dispute about them are governed by the law of your own country, province, or state of residence, the courts there have jurisdiction, and you keep every mandatory consumer-law protection that law gives you — including the right to complain to your local consumer authority. Nothing in these terms takes any of that away. Consumers in Quebec may request a French-language copy of these terms at [email protected].
If you are not acting as a consumer (for example, a business, or anyone scraping, redistributing, or otherwise using the site outside personal research), these terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we will give notice (for example by email or a site notice) before it takes effect. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the change.
